Remote access solution is a technology that allows you to access another computer remotely. These days, a lot of modern businesses and organizations use this tool to enhance their productivity and maximize their efficiency. In this guide, we’ll show you how to remotely control a computer or a device.
1. Remote Access Software - Remote access software is a type of program that provides users with the ability to connect to a remote device from a distance. This connection allows users to access and control the remote computer as if they are sitting in front of it. From there, they can perform a bunch of computing tasks a person sitting in front of the remote device can. They can use apps, have access to keyboard and mouse, and perform administrative tasks.
Remote access software needs to be downloaded and installed on both the local and remote devices. Once installed, it will display the screen of the target endpoint on your local desktop so you can freely access and control it remotely. Most remote access software also uses encryption technologies that prevent unwanted recordings of confidential interaction between the local and remote computers.
2. Windows Remote Desktop Connection - Windows Remote Desktop Connection or RDC is a free Microsoft feature that provides remote access solution to users. Just like remote access software, it allows users to control and access a remote device from a physically separate location. However, Windows Remote Desktop Connection can only be used on the same network. It’s a little complicated to use outside of your own network as it will require you to either establish a Virtual Private Network (VPN) or expose your device directly to the internet. This may not be the safest remote access solution as you’re also exposing your device and system to harmful threats outside of your network’s walls and protection.
